Brought outsourced SQL authoring in-house with AI, deliberately discarding a self-built RAG
01Overview
I first built my own embedding RAG on Azure AI Search + pgvector, then deliberately threw it away when Claude Code / Codex arrived, replacing it with a platform-native approach in one to two weeks. It is a clear example of prioritising business outcomes — zero maintenance cost and higher accuracy — over sunk cost. I built the foundation solo and then handed it off so the team could operate it independently.
